I thought that my last blog would be a word of advice. Teaching is a lot of fun and as a teacher you need to show it. I hate when teachers look like they are having no fun because it rubs off on the students and they have no fun. You have to make the material a lot of fun. It the material is boring then the students will not want to learn. If you make the material fun then the students will want to learn. Also you have to look like you are having a fun time or they will become uninterested in the material. So basically what I am trying to say is that teaching is fun so you have to show. The best thing that you can do is smile.

Reading Lesson Plans

This website deals with reading. It has a ton of lesson plans and it deals with all different grades. It has a place where teachers can talk to one another and a plce to keep notes. Physical Education Lesson Plans

I found a website dealing with Physical Education. It had a lot of activities that you can have the students do as a teacher. It also has a lot of lesson plans all dealing with physical education. It has things dealing with the Olympics, field day, and games. This is a great site for gym teachers and even teachers that do not teach gym. Health Lesson Plans

I found this website and thought it was a pretty good one. The only problem was that all the lesson plans are for 6th to 8th grade. There are a few lesson plans for elementary, but most were for the Jr. High level. This site had a lot of lessons on different subjects in health. Language Arts

I found this language arts website and I thought it could be a huge help. It has lesson plans for all grades dealing with the language arts. I think that laanguage arts is hard to teach and find lessons to teach. This site also has lesson plans on other subjects as well. It also has worksheets to print out on all the different subjects. Math Website

This website is dealing with math. This particular website is not just for teachers, it is also for students and parents. The students can work on math problems or play games dealing with math. This website is a great Social Studies website in my mind. It has a number of resources and strategies for teaching Social Studies. It also has a good amount of of Social Studies lesson plans that are very good. It has great activites for Social Studies and it also post the Social Studies standards that are supposed to be met. This website is made for teachers. It has lesson plans dealing with all subjects and worksheets to go along with the lesson plans. Rubrics

This is a site dealing with rubrics. I really believe that rubrics are very helpful when it comes to grading students work. I also believe that it makes the grading more fair. If you give the students a rubric they know exactly what you want. All you have to do is sign up and then create as many rubrics as you want. It is completly free and it will be a huge help. This is another website dealing with lesson plans. All the lesson plans on this website are made by different teacehrs. All these lesson plans deal with social studies, but that can be a good thing because that is the subject that is ignored more then any other subject. Some lessons are for kindergarten, some lessons are for elementary schools, and some are for middle schools. I found another website that is great for teacehrs. The website allows teachers to find different lessons for different grades and subjects. There are sections for High School and a section for Elementary Schools. Also after you select a subject it will give you ideas for activities and games that will go along with the lesson plan. Poor School Districts

I am observing at Aliquippa Elementary School and it is a poor school district. When you walk into the school there are the students PSSA scores on the wall. It shows how many made the proficient level, above average, and below average. Walking in there is very disheartening because of the number of students that are listed at below average. I really believe that this goes to show you that it is not fair to shut schools down because they not meeting the standards. It’s not that Aliquippa is not trying, it’s just that the most of the students and the parents do not care. The teachers that are there are very good teachers. All of them say that the parents are not very supportive. This is a huge problem. Another problem is that the Aliquippa School does not have enough money to support the needs of the school. So my question to you is "How do we help the poor school districts meet the standards if they do not have support from parents and do not have enough money?"

Control The Classroom

I was just observed my supervising teacher last week and she made me realize that in order to is a successful teacher you have to control the students in the class. When I was teaching the students really did not want to listen to me. I did not really try to discipline them and they basically got out of control. They did not want to listen and they would not sit still. The students understood the material, but it took longer then it should off. So what I am trying to say is that as a teacher you need to be in control. If you show them that you are in charge then they will respect you and listen.

Virtual Grade Book

I just finished my Literature Review paper and it was on electronic grade books. Some agree that electronic grade books are a great tool and others believe that they are not. Most say that electronic grade books are only helpful for the secondary grade level. I believe that an electronic grade book is a very helpful tool because it averages all the students’ grades without any help from the teacher. This gives the teacher more time to work on lessons and spend more time with his or her family. When I become a teacher I will use an electronic grade book because it will save time and also the parents will be able to look up their child's grades at any time. I think it is a very helpful tool. What are your thoughts on electronic grade books?

This is a really great website for both teachers and students. This website gives you many different games that students can play. All the games deal with some educational subject. There are games for math,language arts, and science. The best part is that it also breaks the games into different grades. Teaching Methods

Right now I am doing my observing in a kindergarten classroom. The students are very active and love to be moving. When I teach my lessons to the students I rarely have them sit at their seats. I get them involved and let them move around so that do not get to bored. The last lesson that I taught was a math lesson on shapes. I actually had the students lay on the floor and make shapes with their bodies. This worked out really well because they got to move around and have fun while they learned. I feel that since the students feel more comfortable moving that they will learn more if they get to move around. I would like some other methods of teaching kindergarten kids. So if anyone has any great methods for teaching kindergarten kids please post and let me know.
